baby come sit with me
went to a malay book launch today.note, MALAY. lina conveniently forgot to mention the fact that its a malay programme thus being the nice person that i am, i followed. but it wasnt that bad an experience. i must say its an eye opener. the book is called JOURNEYS:rediscovering the malay legacy. yups, so the whole book's written in english which is a great welcome for people like me =). its a book written by SMU students for students. this was an inaugural experience for most who attended the event. a first book launch for me [a malay one at that] a first book written by SMU students and yadayadayada. basically, the whole event was pretty grand and went on quite facilely save for the incessant beeping of ringtones and the three bozos sitting behind me and lina who was trying to outdo each other in terms of boorishness. i say all three are winners.nincompoops.
whats fresh in mind was the question posed by SMU's President, Mr Howard Hunter [whose erm speech took up more than the intended 5 mins].
'what makes you proud to be malay, esp malay within the singaporean context?'
truth be told, i was stumped. so i'll pose this question to you, what makes you proud to be a singaporean malay?
me and lina walked to bugis after that. but halfway through, the poor gal's HIGH HEELED SANDALS died on her. exasperated as she was, she took it in her stride and she walked barefooted all the way from SMU building to bras basah centre to bugis junction. hah kao. mighty fine ladyy la she. =D. then she bought this exquisite sandals from bugis junction. lawa sehhh. thats the silver lining huh lina? haha.
i think all that walking/rushing/crying[dont ask] we were pretty drained so we bought ock then sat at the mrt's staircase and basically bitched about life and erm yah. heh. you guys do this too okay so shut up.
went home dead tired but happy.=)
//heart says poly but everything else screams jc. and though the heart is the core of all things, it can be misleading at times. so baby, how now?
